Deborah A. Troop is a Canadian Irish artist with works in private collections worldwide. She is a working psychotherapist and her interest in the unconscious is evident in her mainly abstract work. She likes to stimulate the imagination of the viewer by using vibrant colour and abstract shapes in mixed media, showing the influence of Native Canadian art.

The instinctual, sensual realm of the imagination - the right-brain - is where Deborah locates her inspiration. She finds it a welcome escape from today's concentration on left-brain activity - the colourless zone of logic and straight lines. It is, she believes, therapeutic to rest the brain in the right hemisphere, the vivid reverie providing a balance in our one-sided existence.

Deborah graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1987 with an honours degree in History of Art. She identifies mostly with the painters of the 20th Century, especially the Abstract Expressionists. Deborah has shown her work in many exhibitions and can be seen on most Sundays at Merrion Square, Dublin 2. The Merrion Square pitch is now opposite the National Gallery. My website is
